Zoology

Stephen Miller, the lead author of Zoology, was gracious enough to allow Todd co-authorship of this well-established textbook. As educators, their work focuses on bridging the gap between complex scientific concepts and accessible learning. They hope to spark interest and compassion for animals, and help educate future generations of wildlife conservationists.

About Dr. Todd Tupper

Dr. Tupper is a professor of biology at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Annandale, affiliate faculty at George Mason University, and a volunteer at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. He’s a big fan of reptiles and amphibians and usually spends a good amount of time in the summer exploring the woods with his good friend, Professor Kirk Goolsby. Dr. Tupper teaches biology 1 and 2, zoology, and sometimes biostatistics.

Having graduated from community college, Dr. Tupper has a deep appreciation for their importance in the community. As a faculty memeber, Dr. Tupper has collaborated with the Fairfax County Park Authority, George Mason University, Cape Cod National Seashore, the National Zoo, and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. These collaborations led to research opportunities for NOVA learners—many of which have resulted in publications.
